A660-M Long-Range 134.2kHz FDX-B Panel Reader, RS232 / RS485
The A660-M is a fixed 260 × 260 mm panel reader for FDX-B and EMID animal tags, for integrators building feeding stations, race and gate readers or weigh-scale systems. It reads tags at 40 cm ± 5 cm (tag dependent), sends the number over RS232 or RS485 and has a resin-potted PVC housing.

Where the A660-M fits
The A660-M is a fixed reader for places where animals pass or stop at a known point: automatic feeders, races and drafting gates, weigh scales and handling crates. It reads FDX-B and EMID ear tags at 40 cm ± 5 cm and passes the number to a controller, PLC or PC over a serial line.
Mount it so the ear tag passes through the read field, for example beside a feed trough or on the side of a race at ear height. Read time is under 0.1 s and the read interval under 0.5 s; test with your own tags at the speed your animals move before you fix the layout.

The A660-M has a pigtail cable with these wires:

Use RS232 for a short run to a PC or controller, and RS485 when the controller is further away or the cable passes through an electrically noisy area. The serial settings and frame format are confirmed in your quotation. Wiegand 26/34 is also listed for this model but is not part of the standard wiring above, so confirm it before ordering if your controller needs Wiegand.

Installation notes
- Mount on wood, masonry or plastic using the four holes at 220 × 220 mm spacing. Large metal surfaces behind or near the antenna reduce range.
- Keep the panel away from mains cables, motors, monitors and switching power supplies; low-frequency readers pick up their electrical noise.
- Power up with no tag in front of the antenna. The reader tunes itself at start-up.
- Switch off the supply before connecting or disconnecting any wire.
- The electronics are resin-potted in a PVC housing, but no IP rating is published. Tell us about wash-down or outdoor exposure before you order.
- Rated for -20 °C to +55 °C and below 90 % RH, non-condensing.

Mount the panel on a non-metallic surface using the four holes at 220 × 220 mm spacing, facing the point where the tag passes.

Wire power (red DC+, black GND) and the serial link: white RS232 TX for a short run, or purple RS485 A and gray RS485 B for a longer run.

What read range does the A660-M achieve?
40 cm ± 5 cm, depending on the tag. Nearby metal and electrical noise from motors, mains cables or switching power supplies reduce the range.
Does the A660-M support Wiegand?
Wiegand 26/34 is listed in the specification, but the standard wiring documents RS232 TX and RS485 A/B only. If your controller needs Wiegand, say so in your RFQ and the wiring is confirmed in your quotation.
Can I connect the A660-M to a PC?
Yes. Connect it to a PC serial port over RS232, or use a USB-to-RS232 or USB-to-RS485 adapter. The reader has no USB interface of its own.
Is the A660-M waterproof?
The electronics are resin-potted in a PVC housing, but no IP rating is published. Tell us about outdoor, wash-down or high-humidity exposure before ordering; the rated humidity is below 90 % RH, non-condensing.
