A110-U 134.2kHz FDX-B USB Desktop Reader for Animal Tags
The A110-U is a slim USB desktop reader for ISO 11784/11785 FDX-B and 125 kHz EMID animal tags, built for tag registration desks and animal, fish or feeder management software. It reads tags at up to 150 mm, types the number at the cursor like a keyboard and needs no driver.

Why integrators choose the A110-U
- FDX-B and EMID in one reader — reads ISO 11784/11785 FDX-B tags at 134.2 kHz and EMID tags at 125 kHz.
- No driver or SDK — the reader connects as a USB human-input device and types the tag number wherever the cursor is.
- Up to 150 mm read range — the actual distance depends on the size and type of tag.
- Quick repeat reads — read time under 100 ms with a 0.5 s read interval.
- 10 mm slim pad — 104 × 68 × 10 mm and about 140 g, with a two-color LED and buzzer for read feedback.
- Shared housing — same pad as the 125 kHz L110-U and 13.56 MHz H110-U, so mixed sites can standardize on one desk reader shape.
Where the A110-U fits
Use the A110-U wherever animal tags are handled at a desk rather than read on the animal. Typical jobs:
- Tag registration — read ear tags or glass-tube transponders before they are applied, and enter each number into a herd, flock or fish database.
- Checking loose or returned tags — confirm a tag's number without taking a handheld off the shelf.
- Feeder and farm software — give operators a fixed input for assigning tag numbers to animals, pens or feeding stations.
- Software testing — developers of animal-management software get a plain keyboard input for testing tag-number fields.
Because the reader types at the cursor, it works with spreadsheets, web forms and desktop applications without any code. Tell us the exact string your software expects, for example the full 15-digit ISO 11784 number, and the output format is confirmed in your quotation. Background: how the 15-digit animal ID is built.
A110-U or A140-U?
Both USB desktop readers have the same reading specification: FDX-B and EMID tags, up to 150 mm, 5 V DC at 100 mA and keyboard output. Choose on housing and read feedback.
| Feature | A110-U | A140-U |
|---|---|---|
| Size | 104 × 68 × 10 mm | 105 × 65 × 15 mm |
| Weight | approx. 140 g | approx. 120 g |
| Read feedback | Two-color LED and buzzer | Light ring, blue power LED, green status LED, buzzer |
| Housing shared with | L110-U (125 kHz), H110-U (13.56 MHz) | U140-U (UHF) |
Pick the A110-U for the lowest profile, or when your site already uses the L110-U or H110-U for staff cards. Pick the A140-U when several people share one reader and need to see each read. To scan implanted microchips on the animal itself, use a handheld such as the A520-M.

Integration in 4 steps
- 1
Plug the A110-U into a USB port. It is recognized as a keyboard, so no driver is needed.
- 2
Open your software, spreadsheet or a text editor and place the cursor in the field that stores the tag number.
- 3
Present the tag to the pad (read range up to 150 mm, tag dependent). The LED and buzzer confirm the read and the number is typed at the cursor.
- 4
Compare the typed string with the format your database expects. If it differs, tell us; the output format is confirmed in your quotation.

A110-U FAQ
Does the A110-U read pet microchips?
Yes, if the chip is an ISO 11784/11785 FDX-B transponder at 134.2 kHz or a 125 kHz EMID tag. Read range is up to 150 mm and depends on the tag: small glass-tube chips must be held much closer to the pad than ear tags. HDX and FDX-A chips are not supported.
What number format does the A110-U type?
It types the tag number at the cursor as keyboard input. The exact string for FDX-B and EMID tags is confirmed in your quotation, so tell us what your software stores, for example the full 15-digit ISO 11784 number.
Can the A110-U write or change a tag number?
No. The A110-U is read-only. It reads the ID stored in FDX-B and EMID tags and cannot program, write or copy tags.
Which operating systems work with the A110-U?
It works as a standard USB keyboard. The specification lists Windows 7 and 10, Linux and Android. No driver or SDK is needed.
Is the A110-U the same housing as the L110-U?
Yes. The A110-U, L110-U (125 kHz EM4100 cards) and H110-U (13.56 MHz MIFARE/NFC cards) share the 104 × 68 × 10 mm slim pad. The reading frequency and supported tags differ.
