L130-U 125kHz USB Proximity Card Reader, Glossy Light-Ring Pad

The L130-U is a 125 kHz USB proximity card reader in a glossy black light-ring pad, for customer-facing counters where members and residents present EM4100 or TK4100 key fobs and cards. It reads at 0–80 mm in about 0.2 s, draws 100 mA from USB and types the card ID like a keyboard, with no driver.

Why integrators choose the L130-U

  • Light-ring pad — glossy black top with a silver edge and a light ring, 104 × 70 × 15 mm.
  • Fobs and cards — EM4100, TK4100 and SMC4001 key fobs and cards at 0–80 mm.
  • About 0.2 s per read — with a 0.5 s read interval between cards.
  • Quiet operation possible — the LED and buzzer are controllable and can be set on request.
  • 5 V DC, 100 mA — powered from the host USB port through a micro-USB socket on the reader.
  • Wide temperature rating — operates from -20 °C to +70 °C.

Counters where people carry key fobs

At building concierge desks, co-working receptions and car-wash or laundry loyalty counters, many users carry a 125 kHz key fob on their keys rather than a card in a wallet. The L130-U gives them an obvious target: a glossy pad with a light ring that sits in front of the customer, not hidden beside the operator's keyboard. Fobs have smaller antennas than cards and read at shorter distances, so a clearly marked reading surface saves repeated attempts.

At about 250 g, the pad is heavier than our 140 g flat pads, which helps it sit firmly on the counter. The reader types the ID into the counter software like a keyboard, so the PC needs no driver.

Output format and quiet operation

The L130-U supports custom output formats. Tell us how your membership or visitor system stores card numbers, for example as 10-digit decimal or as a facility and card number pair, and we confirm the format on a sample unit before the order. The common formats are explained in RFID card number formats.

The blue LED shows power; the green LED and buzzer confirm each read. Both are controllable, so a reader on a night-time concierge desk or in an open-plan office can be set to stay silent.

Same housing, other bands

The glossy pad is also built as the H130-U for 13.56 MHz MIFARE cards and the U130-U UHF desktop reader/writer. For a plainer desk reader with the same 125 kHz card support, see the L120-U.

Integration in 4 steps

  1. 1

Connect the USB cable to the reader's micro-USB socket and to the host. The blue power LED lights; no driver is needed.

  2. 2

Place the cursor in the member or visitor field of your software.

  3. 3

Present the card or fob to the pad: the green LED and buzzer confirm the read and the card ID is typed in.

  4. 4

Agree the output format with us using one of your own cards, so the number matches your existing records.

L130-U FAQ

What output format does the L130-U use?

The L130-U supports custom output formats, and we set the format to match your software before shipment. Send us one card and the number your system expects, and we confirm it on a sample.

Can the beep be turned off?

The LED and buzzer are controllable. Tell us the behavior you need, for example no beep on a read, and we configure it before shipment.

How is the L130-U powered?

From the host USB port: 5 V DC at 100 mA. The cable plugs into a micro-USB socket on the reader.

Is the L130-U the same reader as the H130-U?

Same housing, different frequency. The L130-U reads 125 kHz EM4100-type cards; the H130-U reads 13.56 MHz MIFARE Classic and NTAG cards. Both read the card ID only.
