H510-B Bluetooth RFID Card Reader, 13.56MHz NFC / 125kHz, Pocket

The H510-B is a pocket Bluetooth RFID card reader for staff who check cards on tablets, phones or laptops instead of a desk PC. It reads MIFARE Classic and NTAG cards at 20–60 mm and types the card number into any app over Bluetooth or a 2.4G USB dongle. The L510-B version reads 125kHz EM4100 cards.

Why integrators choose the H510-B

  • No app to install — pairs over Bluetooth without a PIN and types the card number at the cursor on iOS, Android, Windows 7 and Windows 10.
  • Two wireless links — Bluetooth for phones and tablets, or a 2.4G USB dongle for PCs; stable Bluetooth range is stated as 10 m.
  • Choose the card band — the H510-B reads 13.56MHz MIFARE Classic 1K/4K and NTAG203/213; the L510-B reads 125kHz EM4100/TK4100 cards.
  • Output set for your software — 8-digit hex plus Enter by default; 10-digit decimal, 10-digit hex and other formats can be set.
  • Pocket size — 90 × 50 × 22 mm and 50 g, with a built-in 1000 mAh Li-ion battery charged at 5 V.
  • Clear feedback — a buzzer and four LEDs show power, Bluetooth connection and each successful read.

Where the H510-B fits

The H510-B is built for card checks that happen away from a desk PC. Typical setups:

  • Front-desk membership check-in on an iPad or Android tablet running a POS or club system: the member presents a MIFARE card and the number lands in the search field.
  • Attendance and event registration on a phone, where staff move between rooms or entrances.
  • Badge checks at a door or gate, with the phone looking the card up in your access system.
  • NFC tag rounds: reading NTAG213 tags fixed to equipment into a spreadsheet or form app.

If the reader will stay next to one PC, a wired USB reader such as the H110-U is simpler. For Android phones with a USB-C port, the plug-in H220-C needs no battery or pairing.

Choosing H510-B, L510-B or Q510-B

All three versions share the pocket housing, battery and wireless links. They differ in what they read:

VersionReadsCards / codes
H510-B13.56 MHz, ISO/IEC 14443AMIFARE Classic 1K (S50), MIFARE Classic 4K (S70), NTAG203, NTAG213 (UID)
L510-B125 kHz, EM4100EM4100 / TK4100 ID cards (card number)
Q510-BRFID plus 1D/2D barcodesEAN-13, Code 128, QR Code, Data Matrix and more; RFID band confirmed in your quotation

Not sure which band your cards use? Our guide to 125kHz vs 13.56MHz cards shows how to tell them apart. The H510-B and L510-B each read one band, so a site with both card types needs both versions.

What the reader types into your app

By default the H510-B sends the card number as 8-digit hexadecimal followed by Enter. USB desktop readers such as the L110-U and H110-U default to 10-digit decimal. If your cards were enrolled with a desktop reader, the numbers will not match until the formats agree.

There are two fixes. Order the H510-B preset to 10-digit decimal (10-digit hex and other formats are also available), or convert existing numbers with the card number converter. For a 4-byte MIFARE Classic UID, 8-digit hex and 10-digit decimal are the same 32-bit value written in two bases, provided both readers send the bytes in the same order; if the converted value still does not match, the byte order is reversed on one side.

Card, tag and system compatibility

Works with

  • ✓13.56MHz MIFARE Classic 1K (S50) and 4K (S70) cards, NTAG203 and NTAG213 tags: UID read (H510-B)
  • ✓125kHz EM4100 / TK4100 ID cards (L510-B version)
  • ✓iPhone and iPad (iOS), Android phones and tablets, Windows 7 and Windows 10 PCs
  • ✓Any app that accepts keyboard input: POS, membership and attendance software, spreadsheets, web forms

Not designed for

  • ✕Writing or encoding cards (read-only reader)
  • ✕Reading card sector data or NDEF content: only the card number is output
  • ✕Card data over the USB cable: the cable charges the battery only
  • ✕UHF EPC tags: use the U510-B in the same pocket housing
  • ✕134.2kHz animal microchips: use the A520-M

Integration in 4 steps

  1. 1

Charge the built-in battery from a 5 V USB supply, then press the front button to switch the reader on.

  2. 2

On the phone, tablet or PC, open Bluetooth settings and select the reader; it pairs without a PIN. On a PC without Bluetooth, plug in the 2.4G USB dongle instead.

  3. 3

Put the cursor in the target field (POS search, spreadsheet cell, web form) and hold the card to the reader within 20–60 mm; the card number is typed, followed by Enter.

  4. 4

If digits come out wrong, set the host keyboard input to English (US). To change the output format, use the format-setting utility or order the unit preset.

H510-B FAQ

Does the H510-B work with an iPhone or iPad?

Yes. iOS is listed alongside Android, Windows 7 and Windows 10. The reader pairs over Bluetooth as a keyboard-type device without a PIN, so the card number is typed into whichever app has the cursor. No app or SDK is needed.

Why does the H510-B show a different number from my desktop reader?

The H510-B defaults to 8-digit hex, while USB desktop readers such as the L110-U and H110-U default to 10-digit decimal. For a 4-byte MIFARE Classic UID both are the same 32-bit value, as long as the byte order matches. Ask for 10-digit decimal output when you order, or convert numbers with the card number converter.

Can one unit read both 125kHz and 13.56MHz cards?

The H510-B reads 13.56MHz MIFARE Classic and NTAG cards; the L510-B reads 125kHz EM4100/TK4100 cards. Each reads one band. If you need both bands in one unit, say so in your RFQ and we will confirm whether a version is available.

Can I send card numbers to a PC through the USB cable?

No. The USB cable only charges the 1000 mAh battery. On a PC, use Bluetooth or the 2.4G USB dongle.

How far can the reader be from the tablet or PC?

Stable Bluetooth range is stated as 10 m. Card read range is separate: the card must be within 20–60 mm of the reader, depending on card type.
